Where the line goes
Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer.

- Paste the PageFox script into the Footer field and save.
- Publish the site before checking installation. Code Injection availability depends on the Squarespace plan.
How to tell it worked
- Publish or deploy the change, the way you normally would.
- Open a page of your site in a normal browser window — that visit is all we need.
- Back in PageFox, your site moves from Not installed to Receiving.
- Nothing yet? Give it a minute and look again — a quiet site can simply have had no visits.
On Squarespace, the usual reason for a long wait: The change was saved but the site has not been published since.
Why it can look like nothing happened
What turns PageFox on is a real visit: someone loads a page, the line says hello, and that is the moment we know it is live. Every setup below still serves real visitors, so none of them stops that from happening — which is why the four things that usually make an install look broken do not break anything here.
You added it through a tag manager
That works. Your tag manager puts the line into the browser of everyone who visits, so nothing about the saved page changes — and nothing needs to. What turns this on is a real visit, and your tag manager delivers the line to every one of them.
Your site is built in the browser
React, Vue and the like build the page after it loads, so there is very little in the page before that happens. It makes no difference to the thing that matters: the line runs in the browser, and a visit from a real browser is what turns this on.
You use a cookie banner
Then the line waits for a visitor to accept before it runs. It starts working with the first visitor who does, so on a quiet day this is the one thing that can make the wait longer than you expect.
Your site sits behind a firewall or bot protection
It can turn away anything that is not a real browser — automated checks of your site included. Your visitors are real browsers, and their visits are what turns this on, so a quiet start here is a wait rather than a problem with your install.
Until that first visit arrives, PageFox says it is waiting. It does not say you got it wrong, because a quiet site and a missing line look the same from here and only one of them is a problem.
